Mörschwil, Switzerland

Description
A bridge girder was locally damaged by road traffic and prestrssed strands were damaged. Within two hours the reinforcement was performed with re-plate. The traffic flow was temporarily diverted to the second lane. This procedure is possible with re-plate because the system can be applied very quickly and efficiently. Since salt is spread on the freeway in winter to prevent ice formation, an increased chloride concentration might occur. Hence, a corrosion protection was already applied to re-plate in the factory. The activation was done with the infrared radiator and the heating temperature was limited to 165°C. Activating the re-plate with moderate heating temperatures has no negative effect on the SikaCor® EG-1 coating. The pretensioning force of re-plate is accordingly limited to 54 kN.
