Re-Fer

Description

Various masonry walls in a residential building were reinforced with memory^®-steel re-bar and adapted to the latest earthquake standards.

The bars were installed into cut grooves in the masonry and anchored into the concrete slabs at the top and bottom. To increase anchorage length, small mortar bases were created and connected with the concrete. Upon heating (with electric current), the bars contract and apply prestress. Finally, the grooves are completely filled with mortar and the wall areas are plastered.
